Fun Events in 2012

I have been soooo busy (as always it seems), and looking forward to some personal time this summer.  I started researching things I would like to do this year.  They looked like so much fun that I thought I would share with you!
Stitch n Pitch is June 2, 2012 this year, 3:10 pm, White Sox - US Cellular field. Tickets are $35, and you can check out our LYS’s in the area to purchase tickets…such as Loopy Yarns (312)583-9276…if you know of any other LYS’s in the area that are selling tickets, please let me know :)
Then there is WWKIP week (worldwide knit-and crochet- in public day), which is June 9-17, 2012.
The Renegade Craft Fair is September 8-9, 2012 this year, and will be held at Division St in Wicker Park. Vendors will stretch down Division St. between Damen + Paulina, in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair - June 22-24 will be held in Grayslake, IL near the Wisconsin border. I hear this event is something to look forward to, for yarnies and non-yarnies alike!
Stitches Midwest -August 9-12.. This is an event of vendors, classes and I think they even do a fashion show, among other things… and is one of the largest fiber events in the country. It is held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL.
Chicago Yarn Crawl August 4-11: This event is always fun! Last year there was at least 27 local yarn shops across Illinois that participated Yarn Crawl. The are great prizes for participating… such as for those who get to visit all of the the stores, a store in each region, and other good reasons.
You will have to obtain a passport to start your crawl from one of the LYS’s. The event is actually free to participate. There will be more information as the date gets closer…
Then there is Yarn-Con…I don’t have info yet but will post here when I can!
Oh, for those who will travel, there is the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival - October 20-21: If you can travel to Rhinebeck, NY this trip is worth it. It is always at the Duchess County Fairgrounds. Calling all designers, knitters, spinners, yarn-dyers, and anyone who has a yarn obsession, this event is for you….I have heard it is beautiful out there, and I know of some of the groups here on Rav have actually met up there for a fun weekend. I’ve been trying to go myself for a couple of years now and hoping soooo much that I can work it out this year! The link is here.
This is all I have at the moment. If you all hear of any other events that you would like to shout out here, just let me know and I will post it. I love to hear about good things and fun times :)
